    The Barton County Historical Society will celebrate the 60th Anniversary of organized drag racing with a special Rolling Sculpture Car Show on Saturday, May 18th from 12-4 p.m. at the Village, located just south of the Arkansas river bridge on 281 Highway.

    Petr’s Frame House is excited to continue its Artist Spotlight series on Friday, May 24th starting at 7 p.m. “Every other month, I plan to host an open house event highlighting local artists’ work,” says owner Petr Grigorev. “Customers will be able to come in and browse the art, mingle with the artists, and enjoy free wine and appetizers.” The artist being featured during this month's Spotlight Event is yet to be announced. During the open house, customers can also register for door prize drawings. Following the reception, the art will be available for viewing throughout the month of June. Petr’s Frame House specializes in custom framing and matting of photography and two-dimensional art. The 2nd Annual June Jaunt will be taking place along K-96 Highway starting in Tribune, Kansas, coming through the City of Great Bend and ending in Ellinwood, Kansas. It’s a regional event that will feature an art theme this year. The Great Bend community will have a variety of events throughout the weekend, including live music, shopping, sidewalk chalk art, a birdhouse walking art tour, music, food, and much more! To participate in the events along K-96, all you have to do is join in the fun! Community Coordinator Christina Hayes is looking for additional “events” to add to the schedule. If interested in participating or volunteering, contact Hayes at chayes@greatbendks.net or 620-793-4111.
