    The 3rd Annual "Golden Belt Glow for Life" event will be held Saturday, September 12th at Veterans Memorial Park in Great Bend, Kansas. The Suicide Prevention & Awareness event will include a Remembrance Ceremony, a 5K Glow Run, and a Remembrance Glow Walk at sunset and is presented by the Central Kansas Partnership Suicide Prevention Task Force. The event will be held at the large shelter on the west side of Vet’s Lake. 6:00 p.m. Check-In & Late Registration 7:00 p.m. Family & Friends Remembrance Ceremony FOLLOWED BY: Glow Run & Walk Warm-Up 5k Glow Run Remembrance Glow Walk around Vets Lake Pre-registration is $25 per person before September 4th.     Join your gal pals at the Women’s Expo. This event has become a highly anticipated September tradition for women throughout the area. The Women’s Expo takes place at the Great Bend Event Center, 311 10th St., from 3:30-7:00 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday in September. Admission is free and tickets are available at the Great Bend Tribune office, 2012 Forest or at the website beginning September 1st. As part of this annual event, donations and non-perishable food or pantry items will be collected at the door to benefit the Barton County Food Bank. The Great Bend Tribune Women’s Expo is a chance for you to see what’s in and new in the worlds of fashion and beauty, health and fitness, personal and work life. There are exhibits, demonstrations, services and wares from area businesses as well as hundreds of door prizes and giveaways provided by vendors.

    The first annual Nex-Tech Wine in the Wild zoo benefit will be held at the Great Bend-Brit Spaugh Zoo on Saturday, September 26, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Guests will enjoy an evening stroll through the Great Bend-Brit Spaugh Zoo, sampling a variety of local wines from Rosewood Winery and food from around the world all while listening to music from a live band and the company of the Zoo’s wild animal residents. Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on items from local merchants at the silent auction. Tickets are now on sale. Wine in the Wild tickets are $30 each or $50 for a pair.     Story Time-Tuesdays at 11 am and Fridays at 10 am (ages 3-K, 45 min-1 hr.) In Story Time we read books, practice school readiness skills through crafts, and get used to hanging out with other kids our own age. It's okay if the kids can't sit still yet... Sitting still is hard work and something we will all practice and learn together.

    Every Tuesday and Thursday, the American Legion Post 180 at 1011 Kansas Avenue will host Bingo at 7 p.m. (except when it falls on a holiday). Proceeds from the dessert sales benefit Quilts of Valor. No advance reservation required to play.
