    The Vibram Birdie Bash Disc Golf Tournament will be on Sunday, April 26th at the windy hill disc golf course, Barton County College, Great Bend, KS. There will be a men’s, women’s, and junior division. You must pre-register for this event by April 19th, 2015 online at www.birdiebash.com. Beginners are welcome! The tournament will run a $5.00/person jackpot for round 2 high scores. 100% payback! You must play with the Vibram discs chosen in the players pack!   2. GBCT Play "Dixie Swim Club"

    April 26, 2:00 PM @ Crest Theatre

    The Great Bend Community Theatre's production of Dixie Swim Club will be presented on April 23, 24, and 25 at 8:00 pm and Sunday afternoon April 26 at 2:00 pm at the Crest Theatre, 1905 Lakin, Great Bend. Tickets are available beginning Monday, February 16 at the Crest Theatre Box Office. Box office hours are 12 pm - 1 pm. All reserved seat tickets are $10.   6. 6th Annual Walk-A-Mile in Her Shoes Event

    April 28, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM @ Jack Kilby Square

    The 6th Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, benefiting the Family Crisis Center, will take place Tuesday, April 28th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Jack Kilby Square in Great Bend. Activities will include a pledge walk, kids’ events, and the infamous red heels team race. The event is designed to raise awareness about sexual and domestic violence, as well as raise money to provide services for survivors through the Family Crisis Center and its numerous anonymous services. There are several reasons why the Crisis Center staff recommends people get involved. First, people have to walk the walk. “There is an old saying that you can’t understand a person’s experience until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes,” says Crisis Center Executive Director Laura Patzner. “The event is a fun way to let men literally ‘walk in her shoes’ while raising awareness to fight domestic violence.” Second, Patzner says people need to talk the talk.     Looking for a full-time or part-time job in Barton County or any of the surrounding counties? This is the place for you! The 9th Annual Job Fest event will bring over 25 exhibitors to one central location to make your job search as easy as possible. Network with employers, get help with your resume, and enjoy free refreshments. There will also be a drawing for a laptop computer! KANSASWORKS representatives will be on site so that applicants can learn about creating a resume and how to perform in an interview. There will also be exhibitors present for those interested in continuing education, G.E.D. programs, and workforce training. For employers, booth spaces start at $100, with premiere spaces that include sponsorships for $250. Booth spaces will be reserved until capacity is reached, but priority will be given to those who register before April 15th. Online registration will be made available after February 1st.
