Fire Inspection is governed by City Ordinance, as well as, International Fire Code, NFPA Life Safety Codes with our main purpose geared toward detecting and preventing conditions that may be hazardous to public life and property. Fire inspection is charged with annual inspections of commercial buildings to ensure and encourage fire safety, access, and proper storage and containment on a business per business basis.

Our department works closely with the State Fire Marshal’s office in the inspection of all public schools. The Fire Inspector also inspects all day cares to ensure minimum State standards are upheld to provide further protection of our younger citizens. The fire inspector works monthly with the DARE program to promote responsible citizenry and fire safety.

  • Clear corridors
  • Fire extinguisher expiration
• Maximum allowable occupancy
• Tent permits
• Fireworks
• Annual inspection of properties with cereal malt beverages or liquor licensing
• Public fire education and public relations
