Volunteer Information

Volunteering at the zoo is a great way to combine a love for animals and people. If you enjoy the outdoors, then this is the place for you! We have a number of volunteering opportunities available:

General Volunteers

You can train to volunteer in any of the following departments: Animal Management, Conservation and Education, Events, Operations, Grounds, Janitorial, and General Office work

If you’re a student or recent graduate interested in zookeeping, the Great Bend Zoo & Raptor Center has volunteer internships available. All internships are unpaid positions and housing is the responsibility of the intern. You must be willing to spend three days a week among our collection for 12 weeks.

Community Volunteering
Whether you are in the scouts, brownies, or any charitable organization, feel free to spend a day helping the zoo. We can offer a day of volunteering for your group or organization and show you what it’s like to work with our critters!

Eagle Scout Projects
If you’re looking for an Eagle Scout project, look no further! We have lots of opportunities for scouts to earn their Eagle badge. Call us to set up an appointment!

Special Events
Every so often the Great Bend-Brit Spaugh along with the Zoological Society will hold an event or fundraiser. If you’re not the person who wants to be working in the mud, then volunteer to aid in our special events! Call us for a list of upcoming events, and what you can do!
