Lifeguards and Concessionaires/Wetlands Water Park
The City of Great Bend Public Lands Department is currently accepting applications for lifeguards and cashiers/concessionaires at the Wetlands at Great Bend for the 2016 summer season. Primary responsibilities for lifeguards include ensuring the safety of all patrons by practicing preventative lifeguarding. Must be familiar with and enforce all rules and regulations of the facility. Must be at least 16 years of age, possess good public relations and communications skills, and be able to obtain lifeguard certification and CPR/first aid certification prior to pool opening. Primary responsibilities for cashiers/concessionaires include operating a cash register, collecting admission or concession fees, balancing cash drawers, preparation of food and drinks sold through the concession area, cleaning, etc. Must be at least 15 years of age. Should possess good public relations and communications skills. Police Officer/Police Department
The City of Great Bend is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for Police Officers. Primary responsibilities include patrol work, assisting with the prevention of crime and the enforcement of traffic laws and regulations. All aspects of police work will be involved, including responding to dispatches, investigations, report preparation, making arrests, issuing citations, etc. This position requires the ability to read, interpret and understand various law enforcement rules and policies, write clear and accurate reports, and communicate effectively with fellow employees, supervisors and the public. Successful candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and be at least 21 years of age. Some college level work in law enforcement is desirable. In addition, candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to achieve basic law enforcement certification by the State of Kansas within one year of appointment.
