The Department of Public Lands oversees and manages 2,000 acres to include: an airport, a cemetery, 10 parks and a zoo.

The Department is activity involved with numerous community activities and festivals to include: Zoo-Boo, Fireworks Great Bend, and one of the top Christmas Light displays in the United States.
