Helpful hints:
- If your water
usage has increased and you do not know why call the City Utility Department
at 793-4100 before calling a plumber. We will send a service person out
to check the meter to see if they can detect a leak. If there is a leak
on the property owner’s side of the meter, the repairs will need to
be done by the customer. If it is on the City’s side, the City will
repair it.
- The water softener
and the toilet cause most cases of unknown increased usage. To check the
toilet, put food coloring in the tank of the toilet. Leave it in the tank
for an hour. After an hour if you can see the food coloring in the toilet
bowl there is a leak.
- Repair leaks.
It does not take much of a leak to drastically increase your water bill.
