The Patrol Division is made up of 22 Patrolman. This division works 12 hour shifts from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and 9:00 pm to 9:00 am. This division is comprised of four shifts each managed by a Sergeant. Officers of the Patrol Division are typically the first responders to dispatched or self-initiated incidents.

They often respond to:

  • Crimes in progress
  • Investigations of previously committed crimes
  • Situations of high-stress and a host of crimes
  • Investigations of traffic accidents
  • Traffic stops

New Officers

All new police officers are assigned to the Patrol Division for their field training that lasts approximately 13 weeks. New Officers who successfully pass the Department Field Training Program must then attend the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center for 14 weeks to become a Kansas certified law-Enforcement Officer.
