Planning & Zoning

The City of Great Bend is responsible for enforcing zoning and subdivision regulations for properties in the City of Great Bend and for properties in the three-mile extra-territorial zoning area around the City of Great Bend.

Zoning regulations divide the community into districts, or zones, and regulates the land use in each district. Regulations for each district include specifying the permitted uses of land and buildings, the density of such uses, the size of the buildings on the land, etc.

Subdivision regulations govern both the division of land into two or more lots, parcels, or sites for building and the location, design, and installation of supporting infrastructure.

Planning and Zoning work closely with the Planning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals to help guide the growth and development of the City of Great Bend.

Any questions related to planning and zoning, Planning Commission, the Board of Zoning Appeals, applications and meetings can be directed to the Building Inspections office.
